Balloon Garland. Easy, cheap party decor!

Here is my confession: I love planning and executing birthday parties for my children. The people at Pinterest understand my obession. (Take a look at my boards for ideas).

We recently just had a superhero party, and I tried lots of new projects. One of those was creating balloon garland. Balloons make everyone smile!

I thought, "Heck, this looks easy, cheap and festive!"

I went to the Everthing's a Dollar store and purchase string and balloons. I had to purchase a large needle at Walmart. My decor investment was about $5.00 and I covered most of my fence with these beauties.

I don't follow directions well.

I pinned several examples and read their detailed instructions. Another confession. I don't follow instructions very well, and I don't like a lot of detail. So I did these my own way. If you want to make yours look perfect, you are welcome to explore my Pinterest board for these.

Here is how I did it:

  1. Blew up balloons. Attempted to make them about the same size.

  2. Threaded the large needle with string.

  3. Held out the tail of the balloon and pushed the needle through.

  4. Pulled the string as long as I needed the length (again, I don't like detail so I guessed on my length and it worked just fine. I left a lot of string at the beginning and end to adjust if needed).

  5. Don't make the garland too long. Things can easily get tangle, and you'll be reaching for the wine before and not after the party.

  6. Draped the garland on my fence and graciously accepted many compliments.

Tip: After I threaded the first balloon, I tied the string to a chair to thread the rest of the balloons. It was so much easier and prevented tangling.

As you can see, it's a little touch of fun for a party, and you don't have to do too much work. Balloons make everyone smile!
