How I built my blog

I knew that I had motivation and I knew I had the topic. I just needed to build it.

Here is how I did it. So far anyway.

  1. I meet with some friends. Drank some wine. Spewed out my thoughts.

  2. I wrote down 30 blog ideas. Then I wrote down some more.

  3. I researched other blogs I like. Bookmarked them for the future.

  4. I sat in front of the computer and started building my website and blog using wix.com.

  5. I forced myself to work on it each day for a week straight.

  6. Sent it to friends for feedback.

  7. Took various free online courses, read numerous e-books.

  8. Held a launch party to get my friends drunk enough to agree to read it and share it.

  9. Created predictable expectations for myself and the blog.

  10. Wrote a brand guide for my blog, created a timeline to keep me on task.

  11. Created Facebook and Pinterest pages reflecting AuthenticallyAmy.

  12. Got my hair colored and bought new glasses. Essential for a good blog.

I am scheduling 30 minutes, twice a week, to write my blogs, perform maintenance, and admire my good work. (Yes, I like to reread my posts).

This feels really good so far.

My next step is to set a few goals for myself. I like this enough that I don't want it to fall under "other duties as assigned" in my SUPER MOM job description.

Got questions? Want to learn more? Email me. I like to talk.
